Funeral service for Mrs. Martha Voree Chappell Walters, age 82 of Tallulah will be held Saturday, April 7, 2007, at 10:30AM in the First Baptist Church in Tallulah, with the Rev. John W. Rushing officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Tallulah under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home of Tallulah.
Mrs. Walters died late Wednesday afternoon April 4, 2007 in the St. Francis North Hospital in Monroe after a brief illness. She was a native of Jackson Parish, LA and was raised in Transylvania, and a resident of Tallulah for many years. She and her husband were the owners and operators of Walter's Furniture Store in Tallulah for 50 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Talluah. Her visitation will be Friday April 6 at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home from 5:00PM to 8:00PM.
Survivors include: Daughter; Beverly Ann Walters of Brandon, MS, Son: Leland Lamar Walters, Jr. and wife Gala of Tallulah, LA Grandchildren: Todd Walters, of West Monroe, LA: Marla Sullivan and husband Jerrel of Tallulah, LA; Lee Walters and wife Carey of Baton Rouge, LA ; Marshall Walters and wife Keri of Zachery, LA; Two Step Grandchildren: Ashlie Moon and husband Donny of Winnfield, LA and Sarah Hawsey of Nashville, TN. Ten great-grandchildren. One brother Norman Chappell of Minden. Four sisters: Betty McConnell of Ferriday, LA Sybol McGee of Houma, LA, Wanda Swilley of Pass Christian, MS, and Jimmie Gail, McPherson, of West Monroe, LA
Pallbearers will be Todd Walters, Lee Walters, Marhsall Walters, Jerrell Sullivan, Hugh McConnell, and Richie Johns.
Honorary Pallbearer: Billy James.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years Leland Lamar Walters, Sr.; Parents: Marshall Eugene Chappell and Thula Tullos Chappell; Brother Billy Gene Chappell; Sisters: Cloteal Chappell Ezell, Carolyn Kennedy, and Sonya Elizabeth Chappell.
