LUCILLE RICKELS Mendenhall

Lucille Rickels, 83, died on Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Wisteria Gardens, Pearl, MS. She had been in residence there since a near fatal accident in 2008.

Services will be held on Thursday, June 12 at 11:00 at Colonial Chapel in Magee, Ms with visitation 2 hours prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Blair E Batson Hospital or a charity of your choice.

She was long time resident of Mendenhall and a member of Rials Creek United Methodist Church. She enjoyed life without having to have the presence of others to be content. She always enjoyed her family and friends but she could sit for hours in her glass room enjoying nature, remembering hard work, happy times and looking forward to future happy days. Lucille will be remembered by all for her open arms, big heart and her ability to make one feel their importance both to her and to others.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Rickels, a son, Pat Donald and a daughter, Gwyn Powell.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Gayle (Ricky) Warren, Brandon, Lisa (Mitch) Pace, Florence, Son-in-Law, Louis Powell, Sr., Pinola. Grandchildren: Scott Cooper, Jackson, Kimberly (Josh) Davis, Brandon, Patricia (Josh) Dawson, Byram, Julie and Catie Donald, Madison, Courtney Chance, Madison. Great Grandchildren, Cooper and Sutton Davis, Connor and Rowan Dawson; Step- Grandchildren, Louise Powell Jr.Pinola, Jennifer (Steve) Wilson, Byram, and Courtney Chance, Madison.

She is also survived by dear friends: Mary May and Van Paterson, her life line to her home, animals and her community that she loved after moving to Wisteria, Samantha Patrick, Wisteria.

The family would like to thank all the staff at Wisteria Gardens, they loved her and cared for her daily, she loved them. They were there to welcome Lucille in May 2008 and they gathered together on June 8 to send her home.
