She was the daughter of Earl D. and Mary Gertrude Blakely Blackwelder, born in Isabel, Kansas. About 1928, the family moved to Hooker, Okla., where she graduated from Hooker High School in 1940. She loved to sing and had many friends. She attended Panhandle A&M College, Goodwell, Okla., and graduated from Salt City Business College, Hutchinson. She was a Professional Business Administrator for Polumbus Engineering, first as executive secretary in Hutchinson, and then was an administrative office manager in Tulsa, Okla., retiring to Hutchinson in 1981. She was a Methodist, and loved to sing in the choir and then sat in the balcony of the church where she could make good eye contact with her minister as she followed what he taught.

She often had a small lap dog for a pet and companion, some of them were Button, Honey, and Peg. Good nutrition for her dog might include chopped cauliflower. Millie wanted them healthy, and in glossy condition.

She did volunteer work and helped with several charities. Following her mother's example, she was often doing needlecraft or making gifts for her family. She used the sewing machine her mother bought her as a graduation present all her life. Her favorite color was "PINK! And don't you forget it!" she said. Holidays would bring her home to family in Hooker, and in Kansas she stayed in close contact with all her friends, traveling companions and beloved cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Lawrence; sister in law, Ulah Mae, and nephew Bruce Blackwelder. She leaves to mourn her: nephew Albert and niece Gail and their families, cousins, other family and many friends.
