Barbara Bruna, 70, of Hanover, Kan., died Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at the Nebraska Heart Institute in Lincoln, Neb.

Visitation will be Monday, June 2, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Hanover Mortuary.

A rosary service will be held at 7 p.m., Monday, June 2, at St. John's Catholic Church, Hanover.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 3 at St. John's Catholic Church. Father David Metz will officiate. Janet Fritschi will play the organ while the church choir sings "Ave Maria", "Amazing Grace", "Angels Among Us", "The Old Rugged Cross" and "On Eagles Wings".

The pallbearers will be Darren Bruna, Brent Hynek, Ben Goeckel, Lance Bruna, Tom Rindom and Cody Koehler.

The honorary pallbearers will be Jim Bruna, Don Koehler, Doug Goeckel and Casey Koehler.

Barbara was born April 15, 1944 to William and Grace (Poell) Riepen at Marysville, Kan. She attended St. John's Catholic Grade School and graduated from Hanover High School in 1962. Barbara went to Beauty School in Lincoln, Neb.

After a career in cosmetology, Barbara worked as a bookkeeper at the Pony Express Center, where she met Stanley Bruna and they married on January, 17, 1970. They made their home near Hanover.

Barbara was a loving wife and mother. She was a special Grandma to her beautiful grandchildren. She loved attending all of the activities and was committed to creating memories and traditions for her family.

Barbara had many creative skills. Her interests included sewing, needlework, crafts, cooking and canning. Barbara used her creative skills as a floral designer at Touch of Country Floral in Hanover. She enjoyed nature activities such as bird watching, fishing and gardening. Barbara loved to collect antiques.

Survivors include her husband, Stan Bruna, Hanover; mother, Grace Riepen, Hanover; children, Tabrina (Micheal) Meyer, Chris (Jody) Bruna, Nick (Rachael) Bruna, all of Hanover, Pamela (Jeff) Schroller, Marysville, Angela (Rick) Richard, Washington, Carrie (Aaron) Busse, Garland, NE, Deanna (Brant) Hanquist, Papillion, NE; sister, Catherine (Tim) Gastmann; fourteen grandchildren, Adrianne Meyer, Michael Hayes, Caden, Keaton, Ryland and Harper Bruna, Grace and Ella Schroller, Lillian Richard, Claire Busse, Grant and Lauren Bruna, and Dalen Hanquist; two great grandchildren, Riley and Austin; and nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death was her father, William Riepen.

A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of the Hanover Mortuary.
