This afternoon, Alderman Edward Burke released the following statement: "Early this morning the worse fears of any parent were realized when we were notified that our son Emmett was killed in a snowmobile accident. Anne and I, along with our family and Emmett's fiance, Kathleen, are grieving his tragic death. It is our hope that neighbors and friends will pray for him. We do so in the certain knowledge that his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, will welcome him home to heaven for all eternity. We respectfully ask that our privacy be respected as we mourn Emmett's passing."
A family friend told ABC7 News that Alderman Burke and his wife Anne are extremely distraught and in shock over their son's death. The Burkes did go up to the accident scene early this morning.
