HONAKER, Va. ? Mrs. Martha James McGlothlin, age 79, of the Laurel Branch section, passed away Friday, April 3, 2009, at her home.
Born March 6, 1930, in Venia, Va., she was a daughter of the late John Frank and Edith Hess James. She had lived in the Honaker area since the early 1950s, moving from the Fletchers Ridge section of Buchanan County. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Ladies Club at Gent's Chapel.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Sylvia Jean McGlothlin; two grandsons, Douglas McGlothlin and J.D. McGlothlin; and one brother, Dallas James.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Jacob Wayne McGlothlin of the home; five sons and daughters-in-law, McKinley and Kathleen McGlothlin of Swords Creek, Clayton McGlothlin of Cedar Bluff, Darnell and Patsy McGlothlin of Honaker, Jerry and Teresa McGlothlin of Richlands, and Burl and Donna McGlothlin of Honaker; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Steve Morrell of Honaker and Brenda Marcella and Sam McCoy of Bristol Virginia; four granddaughters, Pamela Keith, Veronica Broadwater, Kristy Whited, and Jascenda Crockett; nine grandsons, Anthony McGlothlin, John McGlothlin, Clay McGlothlin, Wesley Woodward, Christopher Woodward, Terry McGlothlin, Timothy McGlothlin, Brent Musick, and Jeffery McGlothlin; three sisters, Lucille Austin of Venia, Fayrene Rasnake of Davenport, and Nilah Dillard of Honaker; one brother, Darrell James of Honaker; sister-in-law, Carol James of Honaker; three step-grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, with Elder Elmer Compton officiating. Interment will follow in Ketron Memorial Gardens at Lebanon, Va. Friends may call at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6 p.m. Sunday, where an evening service will be conducted at 7 p.m., with Elder Buford Deel and Elder Bob Arrington officiating.
Pallbearers will be Anthony McGlothlin, John McGlothlin, Clay McGlothlin, Terry McGlothlin, Timothy McGlothlin, Jeffery McGlothlin, Chris Woodward, Wesley Woodward, and Brent Musick.
Honorary pallbearers will be great-grandsons.
