A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Claude Canis and Eunice May Bradley Clark. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Clark and Katherine Shelton and three brothers, Earl, Kenneth and Harry Clark. Throughout her life, Mary Jane was employed at Belk's Department Store and the Christian Bible Bookstore, both located on Main Street in Waynesville. She was a dedicated member of the Hazelwood Baptist Church where she was a member of the Rachel Sunday School class and enjoyed the many trips, outings and fellowship with the Omega Senior Group. Mary Jane will be best remembered for her sweet, loving and caring nature that she so freely displayed to everyone she met. Above all else, she was deeply devoted to her family and her Lord, Jesus Christ.
She is survived by her husband of 60 ½ years, Roy Haynes, Sr.; two sons, Roy Haynes, Jr., of Atlanta, GA, and Jeff Haynes of Waynesville; a daughter, Debbie Haynes Dearman and her husband, Chuck of Statesville, NC; a sister, Linda Woodbury and her husband, Bill, of Johnsonville, SC; six grandchildren, Andrew Haynes and Margaret Haynes, both of Raleigh, Brian Haynes and his wife, Culle, of Birmingham, AL, Zachary Dearman of Statesville, Josh Dearman of Lexington, KY, and Elizabeth Haynes of Waynesville; special friend, Ruth Blaine of Waynesville and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at Hazelwood Baptist Church with the Reverend Tim Lolley and her grandson, Zachary Dearman officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery.
