Denis was born on a farm south of West Point. He attended St Leo's Catholic School and then was a 1943 graduate of Snyder High School. He served in the US Army from Apr 6, 1945 to Dec 31, 1946.

He married Rita (Woita) Lockhart on Feb 22, 1979.

Looking west at the upright granite marker that Denis Stieren shares with his second wife Rita. This marker stands in the northwest section of the cemetery - 10 yards from the paved drive on the western edge of the cemetery and about 30 yards from the southern edge of the section.

Looking east at Denis Stieren's bronze military marker which is affixed to the back (west face) of the upright granite marker he shares with his second wife Rita. Their marker stands in the northwest section of the cemetery - 10 yards from the paved drive on the western edge of the cemetery and about 30 yards from the southern edge of the section.

Looking southwest at the Stieren family plot. The upright marker shared by Denis Stieren and his second wife Rita is near the top center of the photo. Near the lower left corner is a block marker for Denis's first wife, Mildred Stieren, and near the right edge of the photo, north of Denis and Rita's marker, is the bevel block headstone for Denis and Mildred's son, David Stieren.

The Stieren plot lies in the northwest section of the cemetery - 10 yards from the paved drive on the western edge of the cemetery and about 30 yards from the southern edge of the section.
