George W. Chapman, a well known citizen, died suddenly at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John T. Pitcock, East End, early Sunday morning, December 11. He was aged 76 years. His death was due to heart trouble. Saturday afternoon he complained of not feeling well, but in the evening was apparently all right. The next morning his daughter went to his room about 7:30 to call him and found him dead. Mr. Chapman was a son of John and Sarah Lemley Chapman, and was born near Waynesburg, July 16, 1851. For a number of years he resided in Whiteley township where he followed farming. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church, and he had served one term as a member of the board of poor directors of the county. Beside his wife, Mrs. Lucinda Bradford Chapman, he leaves two children, Edward R. Chapman and Mrs. John T. Pitcock, both of Waynesburg, and also a brother, Robert Chapman, of Galva, Ill.
