GASTONIA — Mabel Lee Rankin Rutter, 93, died Aug. 21, 1999, at Covenant Village, her home since 1984.

She was a native of Gastonia and the daughter of Iola Estella and Albert Richard Rankin.

Ahe was also preceded by spouse Harry Lindley Rutter, as well as her brother, Albert Richard Rankin Jr., and sisters Alberta Rankin Shelton, Annie Rankin Sims and Alice McNeill Rankin Gordon.

Mabel was preceded by two nephews, Rufus David and Albert Harold Sims.

She attended local schools and Woman's College in Greensboro.

Mabel retired from purchasing department of Textiles Inc. in 1972.

She grew up in Main Street Methodist Church.

She was a member of William Gaston Chapter D.A.R.and the Robert Burns Society.

She lived in Gastonia almost all her life except for a short period during World War II which were spent in Belem, South America and Miami.
