Michael F. Neuhalfen 60 years of Arlington, NE passed away Monday, May 26, 2014 at his home. Michael was born May 4, 1954 in Vallejo, CA to Vernon and Phyllis (McCoy) Neuhalfen. He married Sharon K. Dowling Nov. 5, 1977 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church at Hartington, NE. They lived at Pierce, NE and owned and operated Pierce Plumbing & Heating Inc. In 1988, they moved to Arlington, NE. Michael ended his career in the summer of 2013 as a construction superintendent for Oakview DCK in Omaha after battling cancer.
Michael was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fremont. He had served on the Arlington Village Planning Commission, Pierce Fire & Rescue and as a Boy Scout troop leader. He enjoyed fishing, building almost anything and coaching youth sports.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon of Arlington; daughters, Kristle Raile & spouse Tyler of St. Francis, KS and Amanda Mleziva & spouse Brian; grandson, Logan Mleziva all of Kronenwetter, WI; his mother, Phyllis Neuhalfen of Norfolk, NE; 8 brothers, Bob & wife Maggie of Ogallala, NE, Don & wife Kim of Sioux Falls, SD, Jeff & wife Cathy of Lavonia, MI, Ken of Laurel, NE, Phil & wife Kami of Pierce, NE, Tom & wife Becky of Norfolk, NE, John & wife Jolene of Columbus, NE and Pat & wife Julie of Glenwood, IA; 4 sisters, Jan Miller & husband Mike of Jewells, IA, Dr. Elizabeth "Beth" Neuhalfen of Eatonville, WA, Mary Colfack & husband Rod of Norfolk, NE and Paulette Theisen of Omaha, NE.
Michael was preceded in death by his father Vernon and a brother Chuck.
Funeral Mass will be 10 A.M. Friday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fremont. Fr. Jim Keiter will officiate. Rosary/Vigil at 7 PM Thursday and visitation will be on Thursday from 4-8 PM and with the family receiving friends from 6-8 PM. all at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Visitation will continue on Friday 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Arlington Cemetery Arlington, NE. Memorials are suggested to Arlington Youth Sports Foundation.
