Donald H. McCullough, 57, of 1395 Rainbow Drive, Lancaster, a nuclear engineer in quality control for Diamond Power Specialty Corp. ofLancaster, died at 7:45 p.m. Saturday in Good Samaritan Hospital.
Mr. McCullough had been ill several months, and death was attributed to an apparent heart attack.
He studied violin under the direction of Keller at the New England Conservatory of Music and played under the baton of Kaussevitsky with the Metropolitan Theater Orchestra.
Mr. McCullough performed in orchestra and chamber groups and played in the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
He was graduated as a nuclear engineer from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and was a veteran of World War II and Korea.
Mr. McCullough was a member of Star Lodge F&AM at Athol,Mass.; Lancaster York Rite bodies; Pierpoint Chapter 49 OES of Torrington, Conn., Olive Dale Sr. Citizens Center and Heritage Association, both in Lancaster, and was one of the founders of the Fairfield Minstrels.
Mr. McCullough was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Adult Bible Class of Lancaster.
He was born Oct. 19, 1918, in Boston, Mass.
Surviving are his widow, Lillian; four sons, David McCullough of Saugus, Calif., William of Philadelphia, Pa., and Joseph and Allen of Lancaster; three daughters, Donna, Elva and Betty McCullough, all of Lancaster; two step-daughters, Mrs. Dale (Ivalou) Provo of Denver, Colo., Mrs. Graham (Lyn) White of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and one step-son, GeraldNeville, Huntington Beach, Calif.
Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Theiler Funeral Home, 147 West Wheeling Street, Lancaster. Lancaster Commandary No. 2 will hold a service at 7:30 p.m.today in the funeral home. Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home with cremation to follow.
