Ollive Marie Beal, 93 of Kirksville died Thursday (Nov. 27, 2008) at the Northeast Regional Medical Center.
Ollive was born on September 22, 1915 in Adair County, MO, the daughter of Henry E. and Cora Lee (Bailey) Hoskins. On September 22, 1932 in Macon, MO she was united in marriage to John W. Beal who preceded her in death on May 3, 1982. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Edd Hoskins, Glenn Hoskins, Dee Hoskins; one sister, Rita Cook and one nephew, Kenny Ray Hoskins.
Ollive is survived eight nieces and nephews; Donna Lee Whittom and husband Jerry of Kirksville, Phyllis Marie Amidei and husband Joe of Novinger, MO, Karen Kay Morrow and husband Billy of Kirksville, Ada Lee Hickee and husband Bobby of Milan, MO, Gail Dean Hoskins and wife Karen of Kirksville, Glenna Kay Bennett and husband Stephen of Leesburg, VA, Cora Ann Kite and husband Cody of Columbia, MO, and Paul Dee Hoskins of Kirksville; sisters-in-law, Rachel Hoskins of Kirksville and Sandra Hoskins of Hurdland, MO; brother-in-law, Harry Beal and wife Catherine of Alameda, CA and great nieces and nephews.
Ollive was reared in the Winigan community and attended school and graduated from the Green City High School. After her marriage she and her husband farmed near Edina, MO. They owned and leased out the land to create a quarry which is now the Knox County Stone. In 1982 she moved to Kirksville.
Ollive was a member of the First Christian Church. She and her husband loved to travel and she had been in all 50 states and at one time spent 30 days in Alaska. She loved and found great companionship with her cats.
A funeral service was held on Sunday (Nov. 30, 2008) at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Chapel with Reverend Philip Lyons officiating. Interment was in the Park View Memorial Gardens.
