Actor. Born in New Haven, Connecticut, he was a popular performer who appeared in more than 200 films between 1915 and 1957. He was studying to become a doctor when he decided to pursue acting. He made his debut at age 19 on the Broadway stage in "Children of Earth" (1915). He evolved into a silent film actor appearing in "The Old Nest" (1921), "Tiger Rose" (1923), "The Turmoil" (1924), "On Thin Ice" (1925), "Fools of Fashion" (1926) and many more. His other credits included "The Road to Glory" (1936), "Inside Story" (1939), "Rhapsody in Blue" (1945), "The Big Sleep" (1946) and "Trial Without Jury" (1950). He also appeared on the television series such as "Adventures of Wild Bill Hicok", "Ford Theatre", "Racket Squad", "The Cases of Eddie Drake" and "Telephone Time". He died at age 70 in Woodland Hills, California.
