Geoffrey Owen Nares
Birth: Jun. 10, 1917, England
Death: Aug. 20, 1942, Egypt

British stage actor. He was the son of actor Owen Ramsay Nares and his wife, actress Marie Pollini Nares. Educated at Westminster School, he inherited his father's theatrical talents. His stage breakthrough was as the stable boy in the 1934's "The Winning Post" with Sir Laurence Olivier. In 1935, he played 'Kim Oldham' in "Grief Goes Over" and the same year 'Martin Hilton' in "Call it a day" in which his father had the leading role as 'Roger Hilton'. Just as his career was taking off, he was drafted into the army and joined the 12th Royal Lancers, Royal Armoured Corps. He fought a hard war in the Egyptian desert, where he contracted sand-fly fever and sadly died of a brain tumor. (bio by: MC)
