Billy H. Adkinson, 74, of Midland City passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at Crowne Healthcare in Eufaula, AL.
Memorial Services will be 4pm Sunday, May 25, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Bradley Rushing officiating. The family will receive friends from 3-4pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
Billy was born March 18, 1940 in Louisville, AL and as a young boy worked in the theater business until his graduation in 1958. He attended the Atlanta School of Radio and TV, graduating with honors in communication. He worked in radio for a short time, his last job was with Uncle Bob Helton at WARI. He opened the Billy Adkinson Store in 1961 and ran it until 1976, when he began traveling on the road with C. Marketing and Advertising for over 4 years. He and his wife Sybil and their son Brandon moved to Midland City in August of 1976. Billy started working at the taxi and limo service at Dothan Airport and when the company sold he started his own courier and small package delivery service which was in business for over 30 years until his recent illness. Since Billy lost Sybil in 2010, his joy has been keeping up with Laney and Brandon, and supporting Lauren's sports. Billy was very proud of his family and is rejoicing today in Heaven with his Sybil.
Survivors include his son Brandon (Laney) Adkinson; and a granddaughter Lauren Adkinson.
