WWII Naval Veteran (WAVES)
The 6th of 16 children, Peggy grew up in Malden, Washington. During WWII she joined the WAVES.
In 1968, her husband Fritz (USAF) retired and the family moved to San Antonio. She completed her BA and earned a Masters in Counseling Psychology. Over the next 25 years, she taught English, British Literature and was a school counselor. She valued her work with young people.
After Fritz's death in 1999, she moved to Houston. She was highly creative and enjoyed sewing, painting and stage directing. As a woman ahead of her time, she championed women's issues, organic foods and exercise early in her life.
She loved people and followed her belief that it is better to laugh than to cry.
She was married three times. First to Chris Anderson in 1937, later to Peter Hayden and then to John Robert "Fritz" Friedrich. She is survived by her two daughters and one son.
