Alice Elizabeth Cypert Yates, 87, of Weinert, passed away into the arms of her Savior Saturday evening, May 17, 2014, after a brief illness.

She was born on October 1, 1926 to Ivy Cypert and Clara Stovall Cypert at Lake Creek near Weinert, Texas. She attended Lake Creek and Weinert schools. She married Toby Yates of Munday on September 21, 1947. He preceded her in death on February 6, 2012.

Alice was a farm wife and also worked in several local businesses. She was actively involved in many local and Haskell County civic organizations, such as Weinert Home Demonstration Club. Haskell County TEEA, Meals on Wheels, and was a 4-H and Cub Scouts leader. Alice was instrumental in building the Weinert Day Care Center, was an avid blood donor, and helped make numerous quilts for the West Texas Rehab Center, as wall as family and friends. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Weinert, where she went on mission trips, taught Sunday School, RAs, Sunbeams, and Kingdom Kids. She also served on many committees, directed VBS for many years, and sang in the choir, women's quartet, and Yates family quartet. She was two-time Haskell County Club Woman of the Year and was 2002 Weinert Citizen of the Year.

Preceding her in death were her husband, parents, brothers T.B., Oscar, Ralph, Robert, and Billy Paul Cypert and one sister, Beda Cypert.

She is survived by one son, Joe and Caron Yates of Weinert, two daughters, Mary and Ed Murphy of Weinert and Linda and Ricky Wade of Bryson; one granddaughter Shanna White and fiance; Gregg Sellers of Stamford; six grandsons, Jace and Tessa Yates of Wichita Falls, Dusty and Lily Yates of Lincoln, Neb, TJ Yates of Abilene, Lane and Amy Murphy of Waco, Taylor and Kendra Wade of College Station, and Tanner Wade of Waco. She leaved seven great-grandchildren, Braken and Toby White, Harper and Hazel Murphy, Waylon and Leona Yates, and Jude Yates. She is also survived by two sisters, Rowena Hester of Haskell and Dorothy Brown of Munday, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 2PM, Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at the Weinert Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Weinert Cemetery under the direction of McCauley-Smith Funeral Home of Munday.
