PATTERSON, EVELYN IMOGENE LONG REED - 78 of Strawberry Plains, passed away Saturday May 17, 2014 at her loving home. She was a member of Hills Top Baptist Church. She loved going to church; being with her friends and family; and taking care of her flowers and dog, Odie.

She was the best mom anyone could ever ask for. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Rev. William "Bill" Richard Reed and Ray Patterson; parents, Lum and Maude Long; grandchildren, Les Turner, Jr. and Corlina Hampton; great granddaughter, Melody Taylor; brother, Arlie Long; and sons in law, Les Turner and Terry Widener.

She is survive by her daughters, Vickie and Carroll Matthews, Terisa Widener, Debbie and Rickey Hampton, Cynthia Turner, Sharon and Brent Vickers, Mary and Wayne Terry; son, Billy and Denice Reed; step children, Connie Watring, Burl and Patsy Patterson; special nephew, Danny and Janice James; 21 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sisters, Ruby Whaley and Louise Trent; and brother, Remes and Katherine Long. Special thanks to Dr. Dean Mire, Covenant Home Health and Covenant Hospice.

Funeral service 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at Fielden Chapel with Rev. Arthur Pedigo and Rev. Ralph Turner officiating. Interment 1:00 p.m. Wednesday in Pleasant Grove (Piney) Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. prior to the service at Fielden Funeral Home in New Market. Published in Knoxville News Sentinel on May 19, 2014
