CASCADE, Iowa - Mary S. Dolphin, 82, of Shady Rest Care Center, Cascade, died at 2:20 a.m. Saturday, April 15, 2000, at the care center.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Cascade, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home, Cascade, where there will be a Catholic Daughters of the Americas rosary at 4 p.m., and a wake service at 5 p.m.

Mrs. Dolphin was a secretary at the former Aquin High School and then at the Cascade Telephone Co. She later was an aide at Cascade Elementary School.

She was born on Sept. 11, 1917, in Cascade, daughter of John P. and Lena (Hosch) Kurt. She married Wilfred G. "Bubbles" Dolphin on June 30, 1941, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Cascade; he died on Sept. 2, 1964.

She graduated from the former St. Mary's High School, Cascade. She was a member of St. Matthias Parish, Cascade, Shady Rest Auxiliary and the Cascade Catholic Daughters of the Americas Our Blessed Mother Court 1926.

Surviving are five children, Karen (Bill) Krapfl, of Dyersville, John (Audrey) Dolphin, of Marion, Joyce (Dan) Cappiello, of Barrington, N.H., Steve (Shirley) Dolphin, of Cascade, and Kevin (Mary Jane) Dolphin, of Mason City; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; a stepgreat-grandchild; two sisters, Margaret Ann (Ralph) Otting, of Cascade, and Eleanor Burke, of Bernard; six brothers, Joe (Jane) Kurt, of Farley, Carl (Shirley) Kurt, of Dyersville, and Sam Kurt, Herb Kurt, Melvin (Lavonne) Kurt and Leon (Trudy) Kurt, all of Cascade; and a brother-in-law, Bill Lehmann, of Farley.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Anna Mae Lehmann; a brother, Fred Kurt; three sisters-in-law, Dottie Kurt, Mary Lou Kurt and Tessie Kurt; and a brother-in-law, Pat Burke.

A Mary S. Dolphin Memorial Fund has been established.

The family of Mary would like to thank the Shady Rest Care Center staff and Hospice of Dubuque for all the wonderful care they gave to Mary.
