Ralph O. Benner, 57, of Jay Knapp Rd., Ossian, died Monday Sept. 19, 1994 at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville after a long illness.

He was born in Detroit Sept. 13, 1937, the son of the late Robert and Greeta Passwaiter Benner.

Prior to his illness, Ralph was employed as a correction officer at the Steuben County Jail. In his earlier years, he had been employed by the Owens Brothers Trucking Co. and the S.J. Grove Construction Co.

He was a Korean Conflict Navy veteran and a member of the American Legion.

Survivors include his children, Jeffery, Nicole Benner, Melinda Freas, Sharon Conley, Karen Conley, Jeff Benner, Terry Benner, James Benner and Josephine Stein; one sister, Patricia Benner; and a great-aunt, Harriet Castle.

Friends called Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Chamberlin Funeral Home Inc., 73 Main St., Dansville, where a funeral service was held Friday at 11 a.m. Burial took place in Greenmount Cemetery.
