Mary Ann Reining was born April 10, 1918 at Granville, Iowa to Herman Bruning (1887-1961) and Lenora Bruning (1892-1919) Herman and Lenora named their baby Gladys Olivia. Sadly, her mother passed away soon after little Gladys was born. Mary and Peter Mich adopted the baby, named her Mary Ann , loved her and raised her.
She graduated from Alton, Iowa, High School.
On March 20, 1936, she married Raymond Reining.
She was employed at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Blair for 20 years.
She was a member of St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church since moving to Blair in 1943.
Mary Ann Reining, 79, of Blair died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 1997 at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha after a lingering illness.
A rosary will be held at 7 pm Thursday at Campbell-Aman Funeral Chapel. Services will be 11 am Friday at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church, Blair, Nebraska. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Survivors are her daughter and son-in-law, Gertrude (Lyle) Truhlsen, Blair; sons and daughters-in-law, Leonard and Faye (Austin) Reining, Midwest City, Okla.; Loren and Phyllis (Anderson) Reining, Kennard; and Jerry Reining, Honolulu, Hawaii; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Flora Hyde, Cherokee, Iowa; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray on Feb. 26, 1956; her parents; four brothers and two sisters.
Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
