PIONEER TOPEKAN DEAD
Mrs. Amelia Ayres, 83, Had Lived Here 35 Years.

Mrs. Amelia Eliza Ayres, 83, a resident of Topeka for thirty-five years, died yesterday morning at her home, 1430 North Topeka avenue. She was born n Willington, Conn., and came with her husband, the late Charles N. Bartlett, to Kansas, about three years prior to settling in Topeka. Mr. Bartlett died in 1881. She was remarried in 1887 to I.M. Ayers, who had since died.

Since 1887 Mrs. Ayers has lived almost continually in Topeka, except for a short vacations spent on her farm at Rock Creek.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Ruth Steele, 1440 North Kansas avenue; Mrs. Edith Sheppard, Hutchinson, and Mrs. Mary Finch, 526 Lincoln street; three sons, Fred Bartlett, San Bernardino, Calif.; William Bartlett, Topeka, and Charles Ayers, Kansas City, Mo.

Funeral arrangements have not been completed.

AYRES—Funeral services for Mrs. Amelia Eliza Ayres, 83, who died Friday at her home, 1430 North Kansas avenue, will be held at 2 o’clock Monday afternoon at Conwell’s North Topeka chapel. Burial in Topeka cemetery.
