Known as one of the greatest Wagnerian sopranos, her most famous role was that of 'Isolde' in Richard Wagner's "Tristan And Isolde," a song she sang at her debut at the New York Metropolitan Opera in 1959. She made her stage debut in 1946 at the Stockholm Royal Opera and continued to perform until she retired in the 1980s. (bio by: K)
