DAVENPORT - Leona M. Bergert, of Davenport, died Saturday, September 10, 2005, at Trinity at Terrace Park. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 14, at Runge Mortuary, Davenport. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. Memorials may be made to the family. Leona was born November 26, 1930, in Quincy, Ill., the daughter of George W. and Ora Alice (Goodwin) Reed. She was united in marriage to Richard Bergert on October 12, 1979, in Davenport. She had been employed as a wire cutter at Eagle Signal Co. and also worked at International Harvester prior to retiring. She loved to bowl, play golf, and go to the casino riverboats. She was a member of the Northwest Turners. Those left to honor her memory include her loving husband, Richard, of Davenport; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Bernadette Atwater, DeWitt, Iowa, Richard Atwater and Sherry, Davenport, and Patrick and Lori Atwater, Davenport; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Virginia Stanbridge, Quincy; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Schatzie. She was preceded in death by her parents, sons, Ron and Mike, daughter, Diane, four brothers, and three sisters. The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Trinity at Terrace Park and the Visiting Nurses for their compassionate care shown to Leona and to our family.
