Longtime Wolf and Seminole resident Dan Earl Howell died Tuesday, Dec. 13, at Southwest Medical Center in Lawton.
He was born Feb. 21, 1922, in Sherman, Texas, to Carl and Mattie Francis (Smidcht) Howell.
Dan was married more than 55 years to Ozie Mae (Yerby).
Dan served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a private first class, 334th Infantry, 84th Division and was a Bronze Star recipient. Dan was a retired, self-employed painter and a member of the Church of Christ in Seminole.
Survivors include one stepson, Charles Posey and wife, Joann, of Seminole; three sisters, Jewell Powell of Dallas, Texas, Jessie Allbright of Oklahoma City and Wanda Gilley of Oklahoma City; one brother, Delbert Howell of California; three grandchildren, Brad Posey of Wolf, Phillip and wife, Peggy, of Eufaula, and Laura and husband, David, Long, of Seminole; eight great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside service with military honors will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
