From what I've always been told by others in my family. Catherine's real name was Ursie Catherine Smith. She hated her name Ursie and decided to be called Catherine and dropped Ursie all together after moving to Savannah, GA.
She was the daughter of the late David Harrison Smith and Leasy Strange of Swainsboro, GA. A beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who was a special woman.
Catherine was married to Madison Davis and had 7 children in Emanuel County, GA. After Madison's death she moved to Savannah, GA and was later remarried to George W. Strickland.
