Bloomingdale-Mr. Barney J. "B.J." Fail, born on March 12, 1927, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 under the care of Hospice Savannah and surrounded by his family.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Margie Williams Fail, father, Barney Fail of Portal, mother, Margaret Joyner of Bloomingdale, step-father, Cecil Joyner of Bloomingdale, brothers, James Fail of Faulkville, Curtis, Joe & Barney Fail, Jr., of Portal, Bobby Joyner of Tampa, FL and sister, Louise Warren of Tampa, FL.
He is survived by his daughter, Debra Moore (Ronald) of Faulkville; granddaughter, Tracy Boone; great-grandchildren, Jerry "Rooster" Thorne, Jeffery "Jeffaro" Boone, Jeremy "Jughead" Boone, Jacey "Jazzy" Boone, and friend, Barbara Creech; brothers, Sam Fail of Orangeburg, SC, John Fail of Portal, Dale Joyner (Nona) of Bloomingdale; sisters, Mary Dempster of Kentucky, Mary Thompson of Pine Mountain, GA and Carol Ann Collins (David) of Bloomingdale, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
B.J. was a merchant marine in the 1940's and was a Barber in Bloomingdale for more than 50 years. He was a member of the Richard T. Turner Masonic Lodge for 60 years. He loved camping, flea markets, fast cars, and his many friends.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Funeral: 2 p.m. on Friday at the Alpha United Methodist Church located at 5 East U.S. Hwy. 80 in Bloomingdale with Rev. Tom Carruth and Rev. Robert Posten officiating. Active pallbearers will be Jeffery Boone, Jerry Thorne, Sr., Bucky Sapp, Richie Sapp, Shane Grizzard, and Darnell Moore. Honorary Pallbearers will be Carl Grovenstein and Howard Clements. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow at Gravel Hill Cemetery.
