"Lee" Garrison passed away peacefully where she was most happy - in her Cambridge, Massachusetts apartment among her plants, books, paintings and friends. According to her nephew, Steven, Lee was at home in the worlds of classics, art, literature and ideas; she "lived variously in Salzburg, New York City, Rome and Naples, before arriving in Cambridge. Lee was a seeker of beauty on travels that lasted a lifetime. The tools of her artistry at hand, she painted at excavations in Sardis, Turkey, in the gardens of Positano, and in the mountains of Chiusaforte, Italy, and was as much at home painting in the parks of Istanbul as on the shores of Lake Champlain, where she spent many summers... Lee was a cultivator of friends, and made them effortlessly wherever she went. She was genuinely interested in other people and loved connecting them with her regular correspondence."
