Voyne was born April 30, 1920 at Woodbine, Iowa to Charles and Edith (Lauridsen) Harris. He graduated from Magnolia, Iowa High School in 1938.

In 1945, he started to work for the Safeway Food Store in Missouri Valley, Iowa. He later transferred to the Red Oak, Iowa store and in 1950, moved to Blair where he was the manager of the meat department for 32 years, retiring in 1982.

He was a member of St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Blair Golf Club, a friend of the Blair Public Library and was past president of the Washington County March of Dimes.

He married Mable McHugh June 24, 1946 at Pisgah, Iowa.

Services were Monday, Jan. 6 at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church for Voyne Harris, 76 of Blair who died at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha Jan. 3, 1997. Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery at Blair.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Maxine Jones.

He is survived by his wife, Mable; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Richard and Carol Harris of Omaha and Timothy Harris of Blair; two daughters and sons-in-law, Dixie and Morry Hansen, Loveland, Colo., and Constance and Wayne LaBoube, Washington, Mo.; nine grandchildren, John and Erin Schroder, Michael Hansen, Eric Harris, Megan Harris, Andrew Harris, Melissa Harris, Hilary Grawn and Sam Goulden and one great-grandson, Troy Schroder.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
