Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 5, at New Hope Foursquare Church, Main Auditorium, 2305 7th Ave., Moline. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 4, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, 6601 38th Ave., Moline. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, where military honors will be conducted by Moline American Legion Post 246.
William was born on July 22, 1928, in Rock Island, the son of Louis and Elizabeth Siebel Minard. He married Joyce A. Russell on June 5, 1954, in Moline.
William proudly served in the United States Army. He began working at Minard & Sons' Trucking. He was later employed by Alcoa for 37 years and also worked for Pleasant Valley schools.
Since the age of 10, William was a member of Moline Gospel Temple, which later became New Hope Foursquare Church. There he was a deacon and drove the first ever Sunday school bus. As part of the church outreach, he volunteered his time to attend to the kitchen functions.
William was an extremely dedicated husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include his loving wife, Joyce; children, Julie (Larry) Jackson, Moline, Cindy Minard, Tulsa, Okla., Shelly (Brian) Forsberg, Moline, Melodie (Dan) Becker, Moline, William (Juliet) Minard, Panorama Park, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Erika, Laura, Levi, Brooke, Jenna, Daniel, Madeline and Alexa; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two grandchildren, Chelsea and Meagan; and two brothers, Lester and Robert.
