The Arabie's and Blanchard's were descendents of the Great Upheaval (le Grand Dérangement), also known as the Great Expulsion or the Acadian Expulsion. They were of the first generation to settle in Texas from Louisiana in the early 1920's.

Armance Marrie Arabie was the daughter of Mitchell Arabie & Belzire Mire' Arabie.
She married Isreal Blanchard. They had 8 children:
Ida Belle,Lawrence Joseph, Clearance,Clenny
Dorothy, James Charles, Shirley and Adam Lee.

She was a good wife & mother. Her life was humble. Even though she was only about 4 foot some-thing in inches tall, she was always a very respected woman. I also hear she was an excellent cook, one dish in particular was her Sunday cajun corn. I don't think she ever learned to speak English from what I've understood. When it's my turn to be called to Heaven, I'll be so thrilled to meet Armance, my great-grandmother Blanchard.
