George became active in the Baptist faith at an early age and was ordained on June 4, 1893. He was active in the faith and was instrumental in organizing many Baptist church in the county and surrounding counties.
He served as a justice of peace and tax receiver in Colquitt Co.. He was commissioned as the Post Master of Crosland, GA and operated out of his home. Served abt 20 years as the chairman of the Colquitt Co School Board. He served as President of the Bank of Crosland among other businesses.
He assisted his bro-in-law, Jeremiah Norman, Jr with the founding of Norman Institute in Norman Park.
