Lois R. Urbach, 86, of Grand Island died Saturday, Dec. 31, 2005, at St. Francis Skilled Care. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Faith United Methodist Church, with the Rev. David McCreary officiating. Burial will be in Grand Island City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7, at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island. Mrs. Urbach was born on July 25, 1919, at Chapman to Otto and Emma (Fuehrer) Rembolt. She was preceded in death by a son, Ray Urbach. Survivors of the immediate family include her husband, Richard Urbach of Grand Island; two sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Deb Urbach of San Marcos, Calif., and Ronald and Cindy Urbach of Cairo; and a daughter and son-in-law, LoAnn and Michael Horst of Golden, Mo. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mrs. Urbach attended District No. 32 in Merrick County and graduated from Chapman High School. She attended Westmar College in Le Mars, Iowa, earning a degree in education. She taught one year at Ute, Iowa, two years at Pocahontas, Iowa, and two years at Nevada, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Richard Urbach on June 16, 1946, at Grand Island. The couple first made their home in York and then lived in Naperville, Ill., while he completed his seminary work. They served parishes in Fullerton, Fremont and Callaway and retired in 1984 to Grand Island, where they have remained. Lois was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, where she was in Martha Circle and sang in the choir. She was involved with the Grand Island Woman's Club and the AARP. She also volunteered for St. Francis Medical Center and the Salvation Army. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister. Memorials are suggested to Faith United Methodist Church.
