J. C. Holt age 91 of Newport died Saturday evening at his home. He was a veteran of WW II having received four bronze stars. He was preceded in death by his parents Preston and Dillie Holt, four brothers and four sisters, son Randy Holt, grandson Richie Shaver. He is survived by his wife Maxine Shaver Holt of the home, daughters Marjorie (Gene) Shults of Newport, Sandy, Cookie and Cindy of Ohio, sons Jeff (Diane) Shaver of Newport, Robin Holt of Las Vagas, Nev. Brother Perry Holt of Newport, Sister Jean of West Virginia. Sister-in-laws Martha McClanahan and Betty (J.C.) Williams of Newoprt. Several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A host of friends including special friends Roger Franklin and Cookie Ramsey. Funeral service will be 6 pm Tuesday at the Brown Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Glen Ball and Rev. Ron Ball officiating. Family will receive friends from 4 – 6 pm prior to the service. Graveside service will be 1 pm Wednesday at the Union Cemetery.
