NICKELSVILLE, Va. Betty Lou Fletcher, 71, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, departed this life to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 24, 2014, at her home surrounded by her family. Betty was born April 4, 1943, in Buchanan County. She was a daughter of the late Claude Fletcher and the late Fannie Nuckles Fletcher. She was the wife of the late George Bailey "G.B." Fletcher Jr. She was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Glenn Compton; three brothers-in-law; and two sisters-in-law. She was a member of Free Hill Baptist Church and spent many years singing for her Savior, Jesus Christ. Betty and G.B. owned and operated Betty's Fabric and Crafts. Survivors include her daughters, Pam Mullins and husband, Johnnie, Claudette Jessee and husband, Burnie, and Sally Compton; son, George Fletcher and wife, Jennifer; grandkids, Stephanie Gibson and husband, John, Ray Mullins and wife, Candace, Clayton Mullins, Bailey Jessee, Emily Jessee, Adam Jessee, Preston Compton, and Ann Marie Mitchell and husband, Ben; great-grandchildren, Ava Mullins and Jace Howard; sisters, Irene Compton and husband, Herman, Peggy Keen and husband, E.G., Joann Keen and husband, Benny, Shirley Compton, and Darlene Ratliff and husband, Tim; brothers, Arnold Fletcher and wife, Eva, and Jerry Fletcher and wife, Brenda; also a very special friend, Hannah Kwapisz. The funeral service will conducted 2 p.m., Sunday, April 27, 2014, at the Combs Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Chris Musick and the Rev. Darrell Fletcher officiating. Burial will be held at Ketron Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 until 9 p.m. Saturday, April 26, 2014, at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Ray Mullins, Preston Compton, Ben Mitchell, Clayton Mullins, Adam Jessee, John Gibson, Tyler Fletcher and Josh Collier. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Free Hill Baptist Church, P.O. Box 195, Nickelsville, VA 24271 or the church of your choice.
