Daily Democrat, Clinton MO, May 18 2012 - Ruby Morgan (Saddler) Doll was born August 29, 1910, in Spring Grove to Velva (Campbell) and Joseph C. Morgan. She started school in 1916 with the first grade class at Moore School and was always a big booster of Moore School. She graduated in 1929 from Appleton City High School. Ruby married Paul Saddler of the Mt. Hope community and to this union two daughters were born: Shirley Ann and Patty Jo. During the 1950s she worked for Dr. W.H. Ellett and Dr. Robert Slickman. Ruby was married August 30, 1956, to Herman Doll of Urich. They enjoyed 27 years of a wonderfully happy life together. Ruby was especially proud that all of her grandchildren are college graduates. Kay, a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Missouri at Columbia, Suzanne, a Master's from the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg and David, a Bachelor of Science from the University of Missouri at Columbia. Her great-granddaughter, Sarah, is currently a pharmacology student at the University of Missouri in Kansas City. Ruby lived for three years at the Appleton City residential care facility and her remaining 12 years were spent at Clinton Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center where she passed away May 7, 2012, at 101 years of age. Ruby and Herman especially enjoyed Christmas visits from Herman's grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a faithful and devoted member of the Clinton Church of Christ. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister, Opal Spears, and her son-in-law, Leroy Crayton. She is survived by her daughters, Pat and husband, Frank Montgomery, Calhoun, and Shirley Crayton of Appleton City; her grandchildren, Kay Crayton of Kansas City, Suzanne and husband, Taylor Bush, Blairstown, David Montgomery of Clinton; one great-granddaughter, Sarah Bush; one sister, Pearl Young of Appleton City; one niece, Kathy Young of Hawaii, and one great-niece, Heather Berry of Harveyville, Kansas. Funeral services were held at Hill and Son Funeral Home, Appleton City, on Friday, May 11. Interment was in Appleton City Cemetery.
