| Birth: | Oct. 10, 1881 | | Death: | Feb. 28, 1955 | US Senator. The son of Senator David Baird Sr., he pursued the family business of banking and lumber started by his father. In November 1929 he was appointed as a Senator from New Jersey to the United States Senate to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Senator Walter E. Edge, who has been appointed United States Ambassador to France, and who ironically replaced David Baird Sr. for the seat in 1919. He served in the Senate from November 1929 to December 1930, when Senator Dwight Whitney Morrow (father of Anne Morrow Lindbergh) was duly elected to the seat. He unsuccessfully ran for New Jersey Governor in 1931, being defeated by Morgan F. Larson. When he died in Camden, New Jersey in 1955, he was interred in the same Mausoleum with his father.
