Argel Thomas "Tom" Hale Jr was born on April 17, 1920 in Sentinel, Washita County, Oklahoma, the son of Argel Thomas Hale Sr (1899–1968) and Pearl Maynard (Fitts) Hale (1902–1984).

Tom was employed at Werthan Bag Company in 1936, and he served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII. In 1956 he went to work at Ford Glass Plant and retired in 1982.

He was married 1st to Mabel Jarman (1920–1958) and 2nd as the 2nd husband of Flora Lois (Sweatt) Wyatt (1921–2011).

Remembered for the many stories he told and leading everyone in singing "There's a Hole in the Bottom of The Sea" at the closing of every family gathering, Papa Tom will be deeply missed by family and friends.

A member of Whites Creek Church of Christ, he was a resident of Ashland City, Tennessee and 94 years old when he passed away on April 21, 2014.

Preceded in death by his parents, his two wives and his brother Gerald Hale, he was survived by three married children, three married stepchildren, fourteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren and three 2nd-great-grandchildren.

Burial was Woodlawn Cemetery.
