Richard Joseph Ranft
(August 27, 1920 - April 19, 2014)

Richard Ranft, 93, passed away April 19, 2014, in Peoria, AZ. He is survived by his three children: Laura Warrell (David), Mark Ranft (Ramona) and Rick Ranft (Sue) and his grandchildren: Justin, Erin, Miranda (Chris) and Leland as well as his great-grandchild, Jason. Alice, his wife of 58 years, preceded him in death in 2010.

Richard was born on Aug. 27, 1920 in Bellevue, KY and graduated from Covington Latin School. He was a WWII vet, serving as an Army Medic.

He married Alice in 1951 and moved to Healdsburg, CA where Richard managed the Cloverdale Plywood Plant and focused his career on the plywood industry.

After retiring, Richard stayed busy helping with tax preparation, golfing and spending time with his wife and family. He was a devoted Catholic and always active within the church. He placed a high value on education for himself, his children and his grandchildren and enjoyed attending various college classes through his 70's.

Richard and Alice spent their winters in Blythe, CA throughout the 80's and 90's where they enjoyed golfing and spending time with their snowbird friends. They moved their primary residence to Flagstaff, AZ in the late 90's and Richard chose to spend the last years of his life in Peoria, AZ where he has was closer to family.

With his passing, Richard has been reunited with his loving wife, Alice, and has left his family with wonderful memories and enough stubborn banter to keep us all smiling. He may be gone, but never will be forgotten.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 25th at the San Francisco de Asis Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the Calvary Cemetery.

Memories and condolences can be shared with his family directly or at www.norvelowensmortuary.com.
