Troy John Lane was born on July 30, 1896 in Gibtown, Jack County Texas to James Thomas Lane (1870-1956) and Martha Jane (Seals) Lane (1869-1951). He moved to Kim, Las Animas County, Colorado in about 1916 to file a Homestead there. He married Juanita Olivia Fewell on December 31, 1917 in Trinidad, Las Animas County Colorado.

Troy John Lane was a World War 1 Veteran (Service number 3,912,478). He served as a Private in Company F, 9th Infantry. We as deployed to France. He left Hoboken, New Jersey on September 23, 1918 on the ship "President Grant" bound for Brest France. He served in Europe and returned home, leaving Brest, France on July 23, 1919 aboard the ship "Princess Matolka". He arrived in Hoboken, New Jersey on August 1, 1919. He was gone from home for about 10 months in service to our country. The only story that I know he shared about his time in service was that he was so ill (either going or coming back from France), that a cook hide him from the rest. In those days if you were severely ill or died they threw you overboard.

Troy farmed the homestead growing white corn and sorghum. He also bought horses to sell to the United States Army. During this time three children were born to him and Juanita. Martha Louise born June 17, 1920. Kenneth Roy born August 7, 1922 (he was born in Texas while they were visiting Troy's parents). Donnie Ray born May 23, 1928.

They moved to Delta, Colorado in about 1936, leaving during the dust bowl which had gripped the middle of the nation. Troy and Juanita's youngest child, Tommie Lee was born in Delta, Colorado on September 20, 1937. Troy farmed and was involved in the Delta Sales Yard (livestock auction). Eventually in 1952 Troy and his son Donnie purchased the Delta Sales Yard from Roy Schultz.

Unfortunately, Juanita was is bad health for many years, which claimed her life on September 8, 1961. Troy followed her in death on August 3, 1966.
