Harvey G. Bland, a native of Greene County, died at 6:00 o'clock Friday morning at the Arbutus Nursing Home at Bloomington, after a lingering illness. He would have been 79 years old had he lived until March 26.
Mr. Bland was born March 26, 1887, in Beech Creek Township and was the son of Roland and Elizabeth Bingham Bland. He was a retired farmer.
His wife, Mrs. Eva Mae Bland, preceded him in death in 1955. He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Gene Hayes of Bloomfield, Mrs. Marjorie Skinner of Bloomfied, and Mrs. Norma Scott of Bloomfield; four sons, Lester and Paul Bland of Bloomfield, Roy Bland of Muncie and Bobby Leon Bland of Bloomfield; 29 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Della Livingston of Spencer, Mrs. Minnie Bays and Mrs. Ella Hamilton of Bloomfield and Mrs. Jewie Goodwin of Bloomfield and four brothers, Ernest Bland of Oaktown, Earl and Dewey Bland of Bloomington and Ralph Bland of Solsberry.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Newark General Baptist Church with the Rev. Glenn Freeman officiating. Burial was made in the Newark Cemetery. Jenkins Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
