| Birth: | Oct. 6, 1846 | | Death: | Feb. 5, 1931 |  US Congressman. After serving as a private in the Civil War he returned to his home state of South Carolina to resume his career in farming. He served in the state legislature before becoming the superintendent of the South Carolina state penitentiary from 1891 to 1893. He was elected to Congress in 1892 and served in that position from 1893 to 1903. He was an unsuccessful candidate for governor in 1902. (bio by: Bigwoo)
