Birth: Jun. 27, 1916, USA
Death: Oct. 2, 2008
Missouri, USA

Hue Thornsberry, one of five children born to the union of the late William Andrew and Pearl Adeline (Mitschele) Thornsberry, was born June 27, 1916 in Camden County, Missouri.

Hue departed this life the morning of October 2, 2008 at the Richland Care Center, Richland, Missouri, at the age of 92 years, 3 months and 5 days.

Hue accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at a young age. He was a member of the Elm Grove Baptist Church. He grew up in the Richland area where he was a 1934 graduate of Richland High School.

Hue was a firm believer in leaving things better than he found them and was instrumental in establishing a perpetual care fund for the Elm Grove cemetery. He worked very hard maintaining the church and cemetery grounds and had in fact, provided the labor and siding for the church building. He wanted to make sure the generations to come would have a better place to attend church and to bury their loved ones.

On September 12, 1935, in Lebanon, Missouri, Hue married his high school sweetheart, the late Phyllis Geneva Long. This union was blessed with seven children: Shirley Jo, Audra Jean, Jerry Hugh, Larry Wayne, Terry Lynn, Marsha Ann and Cheryl Sue. Over the years, the family grew to include Shirleys husband, Roy B., Audras husband, Carl, Jerrys wife, Linda, Terrys wife, Bronda, Marshas husband, Charles and Cheris husband, the late Bob Warner. Hue and Phyllis were very proud of their 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Hue was the consummate outdoorsman. He loved hunting and fishing, but his true love was his farm at Deans Creek. Along with raising Black Angus cattle, he also owned and operated the Remodeling Guild of Richland, Inc. for many years. Hue was an excellent provider for his family, and a great neighbor.

Hue will be very greatly missed by two sons: Jerry Hugh Thornsberry and his wife, Linda of Kansas City, MO and Terry Lynn Thornsberry and his wife, Bronda of Columbia, MO; four daughters: Shirley Jo Miller and her husband, Roy B. of Springfield, MO, and Audra Jean Johnson and her husband, Carl, Marsha Ann Smith and her husband, Charles and Cheryl Sue Cheri Warner, all of Richland, MO; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; one sister: Ina Tipton and her husband, Harold of West Plains, MO; one sister-in-law: Josephine Thornsberry of Richland, MO; two brothers-in-law: Ralph E. Hamilton of Springfield, MO and Lloyd Long and his wife Pauline of Crocker, MO; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, wife, and son-in-law, Hue was preceded in death by one son, Larry Wayne; one grandson: Jeffrey Lee Miller, two brothers: Tom and Ray Thornsberry and one sister: Mae Hamilton.

Funeral services were held Saturday, October 4, 2008 in the Richland Memorial Chapel

with Rev. David Brown and Rev. Doug Jacobsen officiating. Recorded music selections chosen included You Raise Me Up and To Where You Are. Serving as escorts were Brad Smith, Jerry Downing, Jr., Doug Thornsberry, Jay Thornsberry, Kevin Miller, Randy Miller and Brad Thornsberry.
