Rites Held for Mrs. E. Turner
Funeral serviecs were held Saturday at Donelson & Sewell
Chapel for Mrs. Ella Turner, 64, lifetime resident of Washington County who died Wednesday evening at her home in Hillsboro after a short illness. Concluding services were held at Fir Lawn Cemetery, Rev. Clifford N. Trout officiating.
Mrs. Turner was born May 14, 1883 in Banks, and was married to Ewell T. Turner
when she was 22 years old. In 1920 the couple moved to Laurel where Mr. Turner purchased the General store. They operated the store until the death of Mr. Turner in 1919. The family moved to Hillsboro shortly after. A son, Delbert died in 1936. Mrs. Turner was an active member of the Hillsboro Christian Church for 30 years. she was also a member of the Hillsboro Coffee Club.
Surviving are two sons, Glenn E. of Hillsboro and Dr. Vernon C. of Evanston Ill.; two daughters, Leah B. Turner of Hillsboro and Mrs. Winona Russell of Astoria; nine grandchildren, Joan, Lucinda, Steven, Catherine, Matthew and Jeffery Turner, and Winona Jean, Paula and Linda Russell; six brothers, Wesley, Philippine Islands; Arthur, Manhattan Beach; Fred, Rockaway; Sam, Olympia, Wash,; Edwin, Hillsboro, and Earl Schlegel, Salem; and four sisters, Mrs. Anna Kaufman, Woodburn, Mrs. Mary Walker, Hillsboro; Mrs. Rose Saunders and Mrs. Emma Kaufman, Silverton.
