L. Jerry Lee, 81, of Greensburg, passed peacefully away Saturday, April 12, at Arbor Grove Village, Greensburg. He was born Nov. 1, 1932, a son of the late Louise (Schwagmeier) and Lloyd E. Lee.
He was the husband of Arlene M. (Wilson) Lee. They were married June 20, 1990, and she survives.
Also surviving are son: Janes E. Lee, of Indianapolis; daughter: Jodi Burry, Greensburg; grandson: Dustin Metz; two brothers: Charles E. (Barbara ) Lee and Ralph F. (Nancy) Lee; and three sisters: Mary Louise (Rod) Bailey, Joyce E. (Jim) Sefton and Anna JO (Ron) Chandler.
He was preceded in death by his parents; by two brothers: Lester E. Lee and Fred G. Lee; by one daughter; and by one granddaughter
He graduated Sandusky High School, Class of 1950, and attended Indiana Business College.
He served in the US Army from 1954 to 1955 during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed in Japan for 18 months as a heavy equipment operator in the 802 Army Engineers, attached to the US Air Force.
He worked on the fourth largest Airport in Japan when in the service.
He was circulation manager for the Star News for 7 years, worked as feed-and-seed dealer in
later years, and was also a Real Estate associate for RFD Realty. He operated his own Tire shop for several years as well.
He was a member of the New Point Christian Church, New Point, and a 50-year member of both the Versailles Masonic Lodge #7 F&AM and of the Indianapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite; he was a past master of Masonic Lodge #7. Additionally, he was a lifetime member of both P.V.A. of America and AMVETS and also a past member of the American Legion post #129. He served as coordinator of Americans with Disabilities of Decatur County and also organized and served as first commander of American Veterans post #10.
There will be no visitation. Private, graveside services will be held in Kingston Cemetery, Decatur County, at 11 a.m., April 17, with Pastor Mark S. Vice, New Point Christian Church, officiating. Memorials may be made to New Point Christian Church, New Point. Arrangements are entrusted to Burns Funeral Home, Milroy.
