| Birth: | Jun. 1, 1917 Detroit Wayne County Michigan, USA | | Death: | Jul. 27, 1994 Watersmeet Gogebic County Michigan, USA | June Erna Schenk Hall was my mother. She was the mother of ten and special grandma of many. She was the daughter of Walter Schenk and Ruth Merriman. Granddaughter of August Schenk and Louise Babel and Zachary Merriman and Nancy Young. Sister of LaVerne, Irene, Kathleen, Lawrence, Walter, Albert, and Frederick Schenk. Lawrence is the only sibling still living. Wife of Hayden Upton Scott Hall Sr. Mother of ten children including the late David and Anna. She was brought up in the Springwells area of Detroit. Married in 1936 in Detroit, she lived most of her life there. She had ten kids in the span of 23 years. She said that she wished she had been born a man so she could do anything she wanted and travel the world. Life had other things in store because she was a product of the Depression. When we were kids she always told us that cards were "the Devil's tool" but later in her life she changed her mind and became quite a poker player. I can still here her say, "Thanks, boys!", "That's all boys!", "Sorry boys!" She always had those two cookies on the table. I was always so jealous of her. She could solve any puzzle before me and always beat me in chess. She was so smart. She loved to paint and sketch, loved playing the piano, and loved to sing. She had the most beautiful voice like her brother LaVerne. Ma was a housewife most of her younger married life but in later years worked for the National Forest Service. She had Parkinson's for many years, but because of her stubborness refused to live with any of her children, after my brother Zack moved out. When something had to be absolutely done she moved to Ky and lived next to a sister (again by herself) who put her life on hold for a year and a half to take care of her. Thank you, Addie. She died at her Mi home in the UP of Michigan while on a trip there. I got my love of history, genealogy, old things, and clocks from her. Miss you Ma.
* My mother survived the great flu epidemic of 1918 when a toddler. When she started to take liquids again my grandmother knew she would survive. And then there was the rest of the story.
Mother of ten, grandmother of 21, great grandmother of 29, and great greatgrandmother of 18 with a few on the way.
~Cause Of Death ~ Parkinson's Disease *********** I thank my mother for raising her children with a firm foundation of faith on which to lean on our entire lives. Teaching us self reliance, and that everyone is equal. No one is worse or better than anyone else.
Here, I have included one of my mom's favorite hymns based on Lamentations 3:22-33 ....great is Thy faithfulness.
Great Is Thy Faithfulness
My mom's favorite classical piece she played on the piano.
Clair de Lune by Claude Debussy

MY GRANDMA DIED TODAY
My Grandma died today There is stillnes in the air Humanity has lost a treasure An invauable soul
My Grandma died today All of a sudden the world looks differently People take on more meaning I am aware of the awesome contribution One woman can make
A mother of 10 A giver of joy An anchor A harbor A safe haven in a cruel world A quiet rest in times of trouble
My Grandma died today It's time for me to give honour Pay respect Reflect
How can I give honour without her presence? carry on, yes, carry on If I live my life with love...she lives If I live my life with hate...she dies I honour her with my life
My Grandma died today Yet through love...she lives
--I love you grandma

Hey, why are you crying? Don't you know I'm here, right next to you? When your smiling..I'm smiling too! And when you cry, I'm holding you real tight. Ya know, I'm always gonna be in your heart! No matter where I am......No matter where you are. When your asleep at night, I'm laying next to you, watching you dream. I'm not too far away you know? I'm closer than you think. Don't be sad cuz you cant see me, be happy because you can feel me. Anytime you want to talk to me, just say the word and I'm listening. I may not be able to talk back, but know this, I'm listening to every word. You can tell me your deepest secret and I promise I wont tell anyone. Be happy because I'm in a much better place. I'm happy! I'm keepin' an eye out for you, that's why God up you and I together! I'm watching you all the time and making sure you are okay. I want you to be okay, to be happy and not sad. Don't be sad for me. Please promise me that you will always follow your dreams. Promise me that you will grow up to be the greatest person you can be!
Don't ever forget about me. Please! I won't ever forget about you, I promise. I love you ya know! I sometimes didn't tell you that but I know you knew! Keep smiling because remember, everytime you smile, I'm smiling.
I'll see you again someday, just close your eyes, I'm there!
Love, Grandma Hall
