Born in Crosswicks, NJ and raised in Brooklyn, NY she lived a long and fulfilling life. In her later years she resided in Plainfield, NJ and then with her husband, Walter A. Blackwell, in Trenton, NJ for 33 years.
Mrs. Blackwell worked as an AuPair for Dr. and Mrs. Dunlap for many years and was a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Plainfield, NJ.
She was predeceased by her mother, Ethel L. Smith, her only daughter, June L. Davis-Gratz and her granddaughter, Diann Davis. Surviving are her grandchildren, Carlton Davis of New Brunswick, Tanya (Charles) Grover of Plainfield, Ronald Davis of Somerville, Dorothy Davis of Piscataway, Wanda (Charles) Best of Piscataway and Jerry Davis of Neptune; 22 great grandchildren and 23 great great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held 12pm Saturday Sept. 8th at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St. Allentown. The Rev. Archie Cummings will officiate. Interment will follow in Allentown Methodist Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday 10am until the time of service at the funeral home.
