She married Hasket Derby P. Bigelow on August 13, 1879 in Evanston, IL. He was previously married two other times. Calista was a cousin of Frances E. Willard, the famous leaders of the Women's Christian Temperance Union, and was active in the movement herself. Her death notice was published in the Chicago Daily Tribune on Oct. 23, 1920, page 15: BIGELOW--Calista Brace Bigelow, widow of H. D. P. Bigelow, passed away at her home, 110 S. Ashland-blvd., Friday morning, Oct. 22, 1920. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Henry M. Lemon of Chicago, and a brother, M. P. Brace of Dunlap, Ia. Services Saturday, Oct. 23, at 2:30 p.m. at New First Congregational church chapel, corner of Ashland and Washington-blvds. Interment private at Janesville, Wis.
