MRS. ED NIEBAUM DIES AT FONTANELLE

Expires After Illness of Seven Months Duration


Mrs. Ed Niebaum passed away at the family home just northeast of Fontanelle at 2:00 o’clock this morning following a lingering illness. She was taken sick last fall and had been bedfast since last November 1st. As Anna Sprick, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sprick, pioneer Washington county residents, she was born at Fontanelle on September 17, 1868. She attended school at Fontanelle, and on March 18, 1892 she was united in marriage with Ed Niebaum at Fontanelle. To this union seven children were born, three of whom died in infancy.

Mrs. Niebaum had been a resident of the Fontanelle community all of her life, and had a large circle of friends who respected and loved her. She was very active in the church and community affairs of Fontanelle, and her passing is a distinct loss to that community. She was a member of the Fontanelle Lutheran church, and was active in the social affairs of the church.

Surviving her are her bereaved husband; two daughters, Mrs. Mark Anderson, Kansas City, Mo., and Leah Niebaum of Fontanelle; two sons, Clarence and Willis, both at home; two brothers, A. W. Sprick of Fontanelle, and Henry C. Sprick of Quincy, Ill.; and four sisters, Mrs. Mary Sick of Fremont, Mrs. Emma Langhorst of Fontanelle, Mrs. Clara Roth of Quincy,Ill., and Mrs. Sophia Krueger of New York City.

As yet no definite funeral arrangements have been made.

Pioneer Woman Dies

Funeral services for the late Mrs. Ed Niebaum, sixty years old, who died at her home at Fontanelle Thursday morning, was held Sunday at two o’clock at the home and 2:30 at the Fontanelle Lutheran church.

Mrs. Niebaum was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sprick, who came to Fontanelle with the Quincy colony when the early Fontanelle settlement was beginning. She had lived in that vicinity all her life.

She is survived by her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Anderson of Kansas City and Leah at home, two sons, Clarence and Willis at home and a large number of other relatives.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ed Niebaum were conducted Sunday afternoon from the Lutheran church at Fontanelle. The services were largely attended and a wealth of lovely flowers attested to the esteem in which this worthy lady was held.
